Our Founder: Lizzy Sinatra
After years seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, weight gain and hair loss that accompanied my hormonal imbalance from PCOS, I felt like my healthcare system was failing me. My doctors incessantly recommended prescription medication to mask my symptoms. But I truly wanted to heal from the inside-out.
My travels to India in 2016 for my master-level tantric yoga teacher training led me to an Ayurvedic physician, Dr. Aswathy, who saved my health and changed my life. Dr. Aswathy introduced me to the ancient medicinal system of Ayurveda, and I underwent an intense 21-day detoxification ("panchakarma") process. After just a few weeks, I was feeling better. Years later and symptom-free, I continue using Ayurvedic herbs and spices as part of my daily self-care regimen. As a vegan athlete, consuming enough protein is so important for my lifestyle. But all the protein powders I tried made me bloated, sick, or they tasted like soil! Most were not certified organic (so they could have had synthetic pesticides), nor could they provide testing results for safety and quality. I was about to give up on protein powders until I got the idea to make my own - a brand that set the new standard for the supplement industry.
I contacted Dr. Aswathy who selected and dosed the herbs in our blends, and we created Ayurvedic Protein® to be gentle on your tummy and excellent for your health and the environment.
